Frequently asked questions
My Sempervivum has a lot of ugly leaves.
This is mainly caused by excessively moist soil and many Sempervivum species
are not resistant to this. To a lesser degree, this can result from drought
and age. More about this subject...
What should I do with the withered flower?
When the Sempervivum has flowered, it subsequently dries. You can then
remove the flower with a knife or pruning shears. The shoots just continue
to grow.
My plants have a dull appearance and have shot up.
Your Sempervivum is not getting enough sun. Sempervivums need a lot of
sun. They require at least a half-day of sunlight (4-6 hours), otherwise
the colour turns dull and they shoot up. They will also die more easily
with wet weather.
Should I give them extra water in the summer?
During dry periods, you can give some extra water for optimum growth,
but never exaggerate. The Sempervivum can survive with very little water
in its natural habitat.
